James W. Waage 77 of Fremont passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at his home. He was born April 9, 1945 in Villisca, Iowa, to Fay and Dorothy (Lane) Waage.
James grew up on a farm near Vallisca, Iowa. He also lived in Colorado and Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army from December 17, 1964 to December 15, 1967 During Vietnam. James married Nancy Jo Wilbur January 11, 1968 in Fremont. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, coin collecting and woodworking, mostly making furniture. He loved his motorcycle (even though he knew it was dangerous) but mostly he loved his baby — his 1964 black Pontiac GTO. The greatest love was his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. James was also a very quiet person. He worked at Magnus metal for 39 years retiring in 2008. James was a member of Joseph C H Bales #18 D.A.V. and VFW Post #854 both of Fremont.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Thibodeau all of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Nina (Yates) Waage of Fremont; brothers, Richard Waage and Gene (Sandy) Waage of Fremont and Luke (Carol) Waage of Fremont; sister, Nancy (Randy) Tamblyn of Salena, Washington; sister-in-law, Mary Waage of Tacoma, Washington; 6 grandchildren, David Dryden, Tyler Thibodeau, Emma, and Devin Waage, Alexis and Jacey Buresh; 4 great-grandchildren, Payton and Hallie Dryden, Tyce Thibodeau, Deklan Cooper and one on the way and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; son James D Waage; brothers, Gary, Duke Waage and an infant brother and infant sister; niece, Megan Buresh and best friend, James Neill.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday also at Moser’s. Interment with military honors will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
