Herman H. Jacob, 93, of Arlington passed away on May 16, 2026, at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont. He was born on October 15, 1932, in rural Kennard to Lloyd and Bertha (Jensen) Jacob.

Herman graduated from Kennard High School in 1950. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1953 until 1956.

On March 20, 1955, Herman was united in marriage to Jeanette Frey in Fremont. The couple made their home in rural Kennard, where Herman farmed on the family farm. In 1971, they moved into Arlington in the house he built with his father-in-law and continued farming until his retirement in 2002.

Herman was a dedicated member of the community and belonged to Arlington Community Church, American Legion Post 3 in Lincoln, and the Arlington VFW. Family was most important in his life

Herman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette, in 2009; sister, Doris Sorensen; and infant grandson, John Rump.

He is survived by his sons, Jeff (Carol) Jacob of Fremont, and Jerry (Jennifer) Jacob of Phoenix, Arizona; daughters, Julie (Michael) Rump of Fremont and Jane (Jim) Konecny of Arlington; sisters, Ruthie (Gorlyn) Hagerbaumer of Texas and JoAnn Japp of Blair; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Arlington Community Church in Arlington. The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial with military honors will be at Arlington Cemetery.
