
Jay Palmer, 67, of Fremont passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at his home. He was born November 17, 1958 in Fremont to J.D. and Marlene Hopper (Reick) Palmer.
Jay grew up in Fremont, he later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. In 1995 he came back to Fremont and then to Columbus before moving to the Omaha area in 2006. In 2024 he came back to Fremont. He married Toni Chamberlain in 1982, they later divorced. Jay was a mechanic and handyman.
He enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, metal detecting, old cars, motorcycles, family, friends and doing scratch offs.
Jay is survived by his sons, Michael Palmer of Naples, Florida, and Lucas Palmer (Amber Krana) of Fremont; daughters, Natalie Palmer of Columbus and Jessica Lieberman (David Sliva) of Columbus; partner, Joan Filarecki of Fremont and her sons, Josh and Jack Filarecki of Omaha; sisters, Marlyce (Steve) Scott of Inman, South Carolina and Marsha (Lynn) Brown of Valley; step-sister, Connie Hicks of Alliance and step-sister-in-law, Lori Hopper of Newman Grove; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Carlin, Frankie, Alyea, Tyler, Kolyn, Caden, Owen, Samuel, Dominick and Roman; and one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kimberly (David) Blumm, nieces, Mandy, and Jennifer; great niece, Haley and step-brother, Kenneth Hopper.
Jay’s Memorial Service will be 3 p.m. Friday May 15, 2026 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Methodist Fremont Health Chaplain, Mickey Boell will officiate.
