Geraldine R. Gillis, 94 years, of Plainview, Nebraska died Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Plainview Manor. Geraldine was born August 15, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Hugh and Ruth (Adams) Jones. She married Roy E. Gillis on March 1, 1942 at 1st Christian Church in Atchison, Kansas. Roy passed away on June 4, 1996.
Geraldine lived in Texas prior to WWII, then moved to Rushville, Missouri, Omaha and then resided in North Bend, Nebraska. She worked at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead, North Bend Public Schools and Blevins Popcorn Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at North Bend, and was a member of a bowling league, the PTA and den mother for the Cub Scouts of America.
Geraldine is survived by son, Gary (Marsha) Gillis of North Bend, Robert Gillis of Plainview and Roy “Boomer” Gillis, Jr., of Big Water, Utah; brother, Robert (Donna) Jones of Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A private family memorial service will be held at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend, Nebraska. Burial will be at the Armstrong Cemetery in Rushville, Missouri. In lieu of flowers ,a memorial will be established.
