Sheriff’s department investigates Logan View incident

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the thefts of catalytic converters from an area high school parking lot.

Sheriff Steve Hespen said that Logan View High School reported the thefts Friday from three vehicles in the school’s parking lot.

Hespen said thieves that take catalytic converters usually try to resell them.

“They are fairly expensive and they are an emission control device that is in the exhaust system,” he said. “They do go bad, they do plug up so they need to be replaced periodically. People obviously try to cash in on that market.”

Hespen said the thefts occurred to school-owned vehicles.
