Gothenburg Health Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Case in the Community

GOTHENBURG–A positive case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in the Gothenburg area as of Sunday, March 22. According to GothenburgHealth.org, the case is travel-related and was not spread within the community.
The press release from Gothenburg Health continues:
“The individual has been requested to be in self-isolation. Out of an abundance of caution, Gothenburg Health is quarantining all exposed staff for the full 14 days since exposure (CDC guideline). Gothenburg Health is financially taking care of all staff forced to quarantine.”
“Gothenburg Health has and will continue rigorous cleaning routines in the facility to help protect the health and safety of all employees and patients. We are actively working to cancel all non-essential visits to our facility and have created a workflow to protect suspect patients from healthy patients.”
Two Rivers Public Health Department also confirmed the additional case of COVID-19 in Dawson County. The press release states the individual is a  female in her 40s who reportedly has minor symptoms and is currently self-isolated at home.
The March 22 press release continues to state the Two Rivers Public Health Department staff are actively monitoring this situation, and have contacted individuals who need to self-isolate at this time. This case is a travel related case, and unrelated to the cases identified in Buffalo County.
“People who are concerned they may have COVID-19 should self-isolate and call ahead to their primary care provider to be screened over the phone. The provider can evaluate and determine if testing is necessary.”
“Certain people are at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19, including older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease, according to the CDC,” Two Rivers Public Health Department continues.
The people in the higher risk groups should:
• Stock up on supplies, including extra necessary medications
• Take everyday precautions to keep space between yourself and others
• When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact, and wash your hands often.
• Avoid crowds as much as possible.
• Avoid cruise travel, and nonessential travel.
• If there is a COVID-19 outbreak in the community, stay home as much as possible to further reduce your risk of being exposed.
