Two suspects are in custody following an early morning armed robbery Friday in Fremont.
At about 4:42 a.m., the Fremont Dodge County Communications Center received a call from a resident near the 4000 block of North Somers Avenue. The caller said he has just been robbed by a male party who brandished a gun.
The victim advised that the suspect and another party involved had gotten into a small, black SUV and left the area westbound. A deputy observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved. After observing the vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign, the deputy initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle proceeded to flee eastbound into Douglas County.
Dodge County deputies pursued the vehicle, before terminating the pursuit near 50th and Evans streets in Omaha. With the assistance of the Omaha Police Department, the vehicle was located a short time later. OPD located a party matching the description of one of the suspects
involved, identified as Minta L. Saunders, 40, of Craig.
A male party was also located in the area of the scene, who was identified as Travis W. Stewart, 43, of Omaha. It was determined that Stewart was the driver of the vehicle when it evaded deputies. The suspects were both taken into custody and lodged at Dodge County Corrections.
DCSO officials said they appreciate the assistance of OPD, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nebraska State Patrol in a quick and safe apprehension.
