Terry M. McCarthy, 58 years, of Scribner, NE passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Methodist Fremont Health in Fremont, NE.
Terry was born October 1, 1962 to Richard and Judy (Adams) McCarthy in Omaha, NE. In 1977, Terry and his family moved to Fremont. He graduated from Fremont High School, class of 1980. He moved to David City, NE for a short time and moved back to Fremont in 2004. In 2005, Terry met the love of his life, Jamie Sommers. Terry lived along the Platte River, until the flooding forced him to move on his farm in Scribner, NE. For nearly 20 years, Terry worked for Wholestone Farms, formerly Hormel.
Terry found his peace fishing, airboating, and sitting on the porch with his dogs at the farm. He loved to ride his motorcycle and could probably predict good weather riding conditions better than any weather man. He was a great mechanic. He was always building things with his hands including small steam engines, hit and miss engines, and turned most junk into something pretty. Terry was a wealth of knowledge. Many people would come to Terry with their mechanical problems, and he was always willing to help. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Terry is survived by his soulmate, Jamie Sommers; brother, Tim and wife Julie McCarthy, and their sons, Carter and Chase; and many aunts, uncles, and extended Sommers family.
Funeral Service will be 10:30, Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. Chaplain Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
