FPS names Kobza as Washington principal

Erica Kobza is shifting roles in the Fremont Public Schools district.

Kobza, who is currently serving as dean of students at Fremont High School, has been appointed as principal at Washington Elementary.

Kobza will replace Diane Stevens, who is retiring after 30 years of service to FPS. Kobza will begin her duties as principal on July 1.

“I am incredibly humbled to be following in Diane’s footsteps as principal at Washington,” Kobza said. “When I started my journey with Fremont Public Schools, Washington’s students, families and staff immediately found a place in my heart. I cannot wait to serve the school community alongside the staff at Washington school.”

Stevens began her career in education in 1990 and served the district in various roles, including ELL teacher, reading specialist and district elementary literacy coordinator.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to Fremont Public Schools,” Stevens said. “I have had an amazing career, one that I will reflect on with joy and pride.”
