Camp Ashland Groundbreaking To Begin To Rebuild Facility Destroyed by 2019 Flooding

ASHLAND, NE – U.S. Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer (R), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, visited the Nebraska National Guard’s Camp Ashland training site and delivered remarks today ahead of its ceremonial groundbreaking to begin rebuilding following last year’s flooding.

“Over the years, countless men and women have trained at Camp Ashland. I was proud to make sure there was appropriate funding to rebuild this historic facility after last year’s terrible flooding. I look forward to the day that Camp Ashland is back and better than ever – and that day is coming very soon,” said Senator Fischer.

More information:

Following efforts of Sen. Fischer and the Nebraska delegation, Congress appropriated $60 million, fully meeting the National Guard’s request for funds to restore Camp Ashland in response to the 2019 flooding.

This includes funding for new barracks, classrooms, administrative buildings as well as repairs of existing buildings and structures. Once the rebuild is complete, the Department of Defense has committed to funding the remaining requirements for furniture and equipment.
