FREMONT – A wide range of topics, from hydrant flushing, swimming pools, road repairs and trains were covered during this week’s City News Update with Bob Flittie & Brian Newton.
This is the last week of flushing hydrants in Fremont to clean out the lines. Administrator Brian Newton comments:

 
Newton added that there are two good reason for the flushing:

 
With temps in the 90’s again, when can we swim? Ronin pool should be open Tuesday for lessons, having been delayed a day to repair a broken pipe. But by Thursday, the City may have some updated news about open-swimming rules:

There’s no word regarding the Kiddie Wading Pool yet. We know that the Splash Station will remain closed for the summer, but we wanted to know from Newton some reasons why that pool couldn’t open:

Now that the Bell Street Asphalt Overlay project is finished, we asked Brian Newton about the other road project, Johnson Road:

 
We’ve all been aware of the increasing numbers of coronavirus cases in Nebraska and Dodge County. Bob Flittie got an update from Brian Newton about how the City employees are faring:

 
Soon there will be 180-car Union Pacific coal trains rumbling through Fremont, now that the extra miles of track have been laid to accommodate the extra-length train. (the previous car limit was 120.) Bob Flittie asked Administrator Newton about the issue of trains blocking City streets:
