RVR Bank conducted a groundbreaking Tuesday morning on its branch that will be located at Military Avenue and Main Street in Fremont.

“This is really a historic day for our community and our downtown,” Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg said. “RVR Bank and the City kind of started this process a few years ago as the City was looking for a new home for the Fremont Police Department. This block was unoccupied at the time and we had a building sitting empty and RVR Bank owned it.”

Spellerberg continued that City officials approached RVR leadership about a possible partnership.

“Where the City could build a new police station headquarters and (RVR) could build a new branch,” he said. “We began that discussion with multiple discussions … and began to bring this vision to a reality.”

ceremony in Fremont.

Chuck Johannsen, CEO of the bank, said RVR purchased the property in March of 2021 and had multiple visions of what the area would look like. He said the partnership with the City was a great match.

“Honestly, that was one of the focal points — the ability to have that partnership with the City so that we could each reach our goals with a new building for the bank and a police station for our strong police department,” Johannsen said.

RVR Bank President Nick Vrba also spoke. He said the new branch is an investment into the downtown area for customers and the community.
