Opening night for Fremont High School’s production of “Crazy for You” was a success Thursday.

Tickets can be purchased at fremont.booktix.com for 7:30 p.m. performances Friday and Saturday, and Sunday’s 2:30 p.m. matinee. Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for students.

The show features the music of George and Ira Gershwin. Director Mark Harman said that includes such numbers as “Someone to Watch Over Me,” “I Got Rhythm” and “Embraceable You.”

“It has all the great classics of the 1930s that you know and love,” Harman said.

This is the second time that Harman has directed the show.

“This is my favorite show that I’ve ever directed, just in terms of the music and the quality of the script,” he said. “There are lots of great shows, but this one is so much fun to be around.”

Student Director Alexis Todd agreed that it has been a great experience.

“This has been the best group to student direct because I don’t feel like I’ve had to do a lot,” she said with a laugh. “I don’t have yell a lot and people are so sweet. … I think my favorite part is just being around everyone. Being with the main cast is really great, but being with the crew and the rest of the cast is so wonderful. They are all really great.”

Fellow senior Megan Millard, who plays Tess, said there was a lot of work required for the show, but it was well worth it.

“It is so rewarding when you put in the time — and it is time consuming — but then you get to see it succeed on the stage, that is beyond rewarding,” she said.
