The Dodge County Board of Supervisors agreed Wednesday to reimburse the City for half of the cost for analysis of Fremont’s law enforcement facilities.
The county will pay the city $7,500 for the analysis of the City of Fremont Police, PSAP and Sheriff’s Department Buildings by Prochaska & Associates.
Voters failed to pass a joint law enforcement center bond issue in November. Chairman Bob Missel said that officials needed to go back and look at some of the possibilities after the voters spoke.
“Do we remodel where we are? Do we combine? Do we not combine?” he said. “What are the options? That is what we are looking at.”
Missel said Prochaska was the low bidder on the project.
“Basically because they had already put a lot of work into it,” he said. “They had a lot of the data. I think it is good value. It will speak to the information that we have been seeking and what it would cost to redo the facilities.”
Supervisor Lon Strand agreed.
“We started the process and I feel if we didn’t do this, we wouldn’t be finishing it,” he said. “It will help us moving forward.”
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed the supervisors of the status of some projects, including work on Ridge Road.
“We’re moving forward on it,” he said. “We almost have the road itself established. We’re cleaning out some of the ditches. Hopefully next week we’ll have it open to some traffic.”
Huppert also said that on Cloverley Road between Union and Main, a culvert going across the road has rusted out and collapsed.
“I can (repair) it but if there is a contractor in there, they can keep on the process,” he said. “They can work later, they can work on Saturdays. I’m thinking it will be a week shut down. I’ll put up the detours and detour traffic around. I know (motorists) will hate it, but that is the process there.”
