FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University Director of Athletics Courtney Thomsen has announced the hiring of Ari Galvan-Brasesco as the next head coach of the Warriors men’s soccer program.

Galvan-Brasesco, who brings more than a decade of coaching and player development experience, joins Midland after serving as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Iowa Western Community College. In that role, he supported a nationally competitive program through training implementation, match preparation, opponent analysis, and recruiting coordination.

“We are excited to welcome Ari to Midland University,” Thomsen said. “He brings a strong background in player development, recruiting, and program leadership, along with a clear vision for building a competitive and student-centered culture. His energy and commitment to developing the whole student-athlete make him a great fit for our department and the future of Midland men’s soccer.”

In addition to his collegiate experience, Galvan-Brasesco currently serves as Director of Coaching and head coach within Evolution Soccer Club, where he oversees curriculum development, coach mentorship, and player progression across multiple competitive levels. He has also been a longtime staff coach with the Nebraska Olympic Development Program, working with elite players across various age groups.

Galvan-Brasesco is the founder of Tangol Fútbol Training, a private training program focused on individual player development. His work emphasizes technical growth, decision-making, and overall game intelligence, helping athletes reach the next level in their careers.

At Iowa Western, Galvan-Brasesco contributed to all aspects of the program, including recruiting strategy, prospect evaluation, and daily operations, while also leading positional training sessions and assisting in the implementation of the team’s game model.

A bilingual coach fluent in English and Spanish, Galvan-Brasesco holds a Master of Science in Coaching Education from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in education from DePaul University. He also holds a U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) C License, with his B License currently in progress.

“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Midland University men’s soccer program,” commented Coach Galvan-Brasesco. “From the beginning, I was drawn to the people, the leadership, and the strong foundation already in place. I’m thankful to Athletic Director Courtney Thompson and Assistant Coach Christian Sanchez for their trust and support throughout this process. I’m especially excited to work with the current group of players and build on what’s already been established, strengthening the program’s identity, competing for championships, and continuing to develop a culture of excellence that reflects Midland’s values on and off the field.”

Galvan-Brasesco will begin his duties immediately as he prepares for the upcoming 2026 season.
