Hy-Vee raises funds for Care Corps’ LifeHouse

Hy-Vee leaders will present Care Corps’ LifeHouse with a check for $1,405.10 on Tuesday. The money was raised through customer donations at the Fremont Hy-Vee in November during a time of unprecedented demand for food assistance.

The recent campaign asked Hy-Vee customers to round up their grocery bills to the nearest dollar. The round-up campaign was in response to the needs of the communities served by Hy-Vee as many families struggled while SNAP benefit payments in November were delayed.

The Fremont Hy-Vee also made preassembled food bags available for purchase, which were donated to Care Corps’ LifeHouse. The bags included pantry staples such as canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, canned proteins and cereals.

Fighting food insecurity is a key focus for Hy-Vee, which has donated more than $70 million through in-kind food donations over the past year.
