Former District 15 State Senator Lynne Walz began her listening sessions tour Wednesday morning in Fremont.
In addition to the Fremont appearance, Walz spoke Wednesday night in Gering.
Walz is traveling across the state for a series of town hall listening sessions with Nebraskans. She announced in November that she is exploring a run for governor. She noted that it would be a campaign for the people.
Before deciding on a formal bid, she wants to hear directly from Nebraskans about the issues they are facing.
At Milady Coffeehouse Wednesday, Walz told the audience a little bit about herself, including growing up in the area on a hog farm and a strong foundation of beliefs instilled by her parents.
She responded to various questions, including on education, property tax relief and Gov. Jim Pillen and the Legislature’s reluctance to implement medical cannabis despite voter approval of ballot initiatives.
Walz’s tour includes stops Thursday in North Platte, Kearney and Grand Island. On Friday she will speak in South Sioux City, Norfolk and Columbus. The latter event is at The District Venue, 2509 13th St.
On Saturday she will appear at 10:30 a.m. at the IBEW Local 265, 1409 Old Farm Road in Lincoln and at 3 p.m. at the IBEW Local 22, 8946 L St. in Omaha
