The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the shooting incident that occurred Saturday in the area of Highway 30 and County Road 5.
As previously reported, deputies responded to a call of a crash and located an adult female victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Methodist Fremont Health and transferred to Nebraska Medicine where she later died from her injuries.
Deputies have since developed additional leads and are actively pursuing all avenues related to the circumstances surrounding the incident. This incident appears to be a domestic violence related incident. There was and continues to be no ongoing threat to the public.
Through the investigation, a male suspect, identified as Bryan K. Jeselink, 39, of Texas was arrested. The victim was identified as Billie S. Meadows, 24, of Georgia. It has been determined that Jeselink and Meadows had been in a domestic relationship for more than a year.
As the investigation continued, it was discovered that the two had arrived in Nebraska about two weeks ago for work related purposes in the Columbus area.
“We are working diligently to gather all facts and ensure the individual responsible is held accountable,” Dodge County Sheriff Dustin Weitzel said. “We appreciate the public’s patience and support as this investigation moves forward. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office offers sincerest condolences to the family of the victim.”
