King of Kings Church in Omaha has announced that by 95% affirmation of its voting members, it has voted to accept Good Shepherd Lutheran Church as a merging church.
This brings King of Kings to three campuses in the region.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church approached King of Kings in early spring, asking if officials could explore how they could be better together for the Fremont community and the region. In the spring of 2025, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will officially re-launch as King of Kings Fremont.
“I’m excited about our church in Fremont and our merger because for too long, churches in small communities are closing,” Lead Pastor Greg Griffith said. “This is our chance to pioneer for the Lutheran Church that we will not be content to see churches close. Rather, we have been called to help churches re-launch to be a bright light in the community God has planted them.”
Pastor Zach Zehnder agreed.
“Church planting is the greatest way to reach new people today, and mergers make up 40% of the church plants today,” he said. “I’m excited to continue to plant and re-plant churches, helping make communities and families stronger.”
