overturned

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded at 12:30 Wednesday morning to a personal-injury accident at U.S. Highway 275 and County Road H, south of Scribner.

The Scribner Fire Department and Scribner Police Department joined deputies in responding to the scene.

An investigation determined that a black 2017 Peterbilt semi hauling a load of cattle was northbound on 275 when it failed to negotiate the curve at the cross-over in the construction zone and overturned. Witnesses stated that the semi was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident.

As a result of the accident, the driver, Dustin Graf, 35, of Bern, Kansas, was issued a citation. Graf was uninjured, but six cattle were dead at the scene.

The Red Barn Veterinary Clinic assisted in evaluating the other cattle at the scene. The highway was closed for about six hours.
