A driver was hospitalized following a crash on U.S. Highway 30 and County Road 18 on Saturday night west of Fremont.

At about 5:40 p.m., the driver of a white Toyota SUV was westbound on Highway 30 at County Road 18 when the vehicle crossed the center line striking a Ford F150. After the initial collision, the SUV went into the northbound ditch rolling several times.

Bystanders quickly offered assistance to both drivers. The SUV driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was flown by helicopter to University of Nebraska Medical Center with serious injuries. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said alcohol and speed are believed to be a factor in the accident.

DCSO was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Fremont Fire Department, Fremont Rural Fire Department, North Bend Fire, Saunders County Sheriff’s Office and the Hooper Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing.
