One person is dead after an explosion in Council Bluffs on Tuesday.
According to Council Bluffs Police, the explosion happened at a home near 35th Street and Avenue G just before noon.
One person was found dead at the scene.
Assisting with the scene were Black Hills Energy and the Council Bluffs Fire Department, with each helping secure the perimeter.
Police were asking people to avoid the area due to an explosion and gas leak. Authorities have cleared the surrounding areas as safe, though nearby streets remained closed Tuesday afternoon to aid in the investigation. Access to neighboring apartments was also limited.
The Council Bluffs Fire Department is investigating the explosion.
