Three Rivers offering First Aid/CPR/AED for community

three-rivers-big

The Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD), in collaboration with the Three Rivers Public Health Medical Reserve Corps and the American Red Cross, is now providing First Aid/CPR/AED at multiple levels for the community.

The different levels range from the beginner level for residents in the district to the Basic Life Support level for the area’s first
responders and healthcare personnel.

These classes are available right away and will be taught by six instructors who are also part of the Medical Reserve Corps. Three Rivers officials said they are excited to  provide these life-saving courses to anyone in the community, from children all the way up to first responders.

The courses also have some amazing perks which are:

• Blended Learning – Allows participants to take the course portion online ahead of time at your own pace which is then followed by a short skills portion on a date of your choosing.
• Training at your facility – Our instructors can travel to any location within 3RPHD’s jurisdiction of Dodge, Saunders, and Washington Counties to teach a course.
• Affordable costs – We strive to provide these courses at an affordable cost to help better our communities through life-saving education.

According to the American Red Cross more than 350,000 people suffer cardiac arrest annually in the United States, with only 11% surviving, and for every minute without immediate CPR and use of an AED, survival chances drop 10%.
