Elkhorn man dies of suspected overdose

News Channel Nebraska
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities in Tennessee are investigating after two people, including one Nebraskan, died Tuesday morning in Nashville.
Police in Nashville said 34-year-old Joshua Wolfe of Elkhorn, and formerly of Coleridge, died of a suspected overdose, potentially due to fentanyl. A 26-year-old friend of Wolfe’s from Elkhorn was revived, authorities said.
Karl Smith, a 25-year-old man from Canada, also died. Detectives said they don’t believe Wolfe and his friend knew Smith before the incident. Metro Police said that the three men likely met in the Nashville Entertainment District in the late night or early morning hours.
Wolfe and Smith were both found unresponsive at approximately 4:40 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Investigators say that the two Nebraskans arrived in Nashville together on Friday and were scheduled to come back to Nebraska on Tuesday. Smith was also reportedly visiting Nashville from Canada and was due to leave on Tuesday.
The surviving man reportedly stated that he could not remember the incidents leading up to the two deaths.
WSMV-TV in Nashville reported that a security guard discovered the three men unresponsive outside a hotel before medics were called to the scene.
Detectives are reviewing downtown surveillance footage in an effort to determine who, if anyone, may have sold or given the victims an illicit drug.
