3RPHD Executive Director Gives Update on Vaccination Plan

Three Rivers Public Health (3RPHD) Executive Director, Terra Uhing, gave an update on the Three Rivers jurisdiction’s vaccination plan and other pertinent information regarding COVID-19 on Wednesday’s KHUB Morning Show.
Uhing discussed where 3RPHD is at in the vaccination plan and what the next step is. The CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services made the recommendation to move up those in the 65+ category and those with medical conditions that make them more susceptible to becoming severily ill with COVID-19. Terra discusses how that affects the Three Rivers vaccination plan.

With the vaccine rollout, Uhing wants everyone to know that things are constantly changing, but 3RPHD is still currently in Phase 1A of the vaccination plan. Phase 1A information can be viewed here.

Uhing talked about how much of the vaccine 3RPHD has been alloted each week thus far.

In good news, Uhing said 3RPHD is starting to be able to host drive-thru vaccination clinics.

Uhing asks for patience as they work to get the vaccine clinics ready.

3RPHD is currently receiving 300+ phone calls each day in regard to the vaccination plan and COVID-19. Uhing shared that they are appreciative and excited that so many people in the jurisdiction are interested in the vaccine, but that the department does need people to continue to be patient.

Uhing shared that vaccine hesitancy in the western part of Nebraska has allowed for those health departments to move into Phase 1B faster than the eastern part of Nebraska, including the Three Rivers jurisdiction.

The Three Rivers COVID-19 weekly risk dial was released yesterday. The Three Rivers jurisdiction saw a small increase from 3.00 to 3.14 (orange, high risk level) due to an increase in in the number of cases and an increase in the percentage of ICU beds that are being used. View the full risk dial update here.
Uhing discussed why they will be continuing to share Risk Dial information with the public even as they are shifting their main focus to the vaccination plan.
