Methodist Fremont Health Launches Partnership with Lifehouse

FREMONT – Methodist Fremont Health launched a new partnership with Lifehouse of Fremont today to help community members faced with COVID-19 meet their basic needs and stay home.

Shawn Shanahan, the Executive Director of Development and Community Health for Methodist Fremont Health said, “With Covid-19, what we were realizing is that if someone didn’t have resources, or friends and family to help them, they were still going to the grocery store to meet their basic needs while awaiting testing results, quarantining, or under isolation.

Due to this, Lifehouse of Fremont developed a plan to help Methodist Fremont Health implement a new system to combat this safety problem in the community.

“I’m so grateful for our new partnership with Lifehouse and for them helping us think outside the box to get food and hygiene products to people. [Lifehouse] dropped of food boxes, and we have a small food pantry space at the hospital now so those who are waiting for testing results, need to quarantine, or are discharging – they can go home with a food box, ” said Shanahan.

The partnership also includes creating connections with Lifehouse and those quarantined so more food can be dropped off during the timeframe they cannot work or go out in public spaces.

Methodist Fremont Health also branched out to a few other non-profits in town to help provide aftercare case management with Lifehouse.
“We are also partnering with The Salvation Army and Uniquely Yours to help out those individuals that can’t work during their COVID-19 quarantine/isolation. This will help them to access additional services and funding in town that’s available so they can meet their basic needs. This includes keeping their utilities on, keeping them in their homes, and delivering food and hygiene products to them,” said Shanahan.

Shanahan said that if you would like to help out those affected by COVID-19 in the community and help supply the food pantry, the best way is to donate to Lifehouse.
