Dodge County Attorney Gets 15 Months Probation for DUI

FREMONT – Visiting Judge Robert Wester didn’t mince words when sentencing Dodge County Attorney, Oliver Glass, to his DUI penalty, saying, “You’re a garden variety drunk.”
Dodge County Attorney Oliver Glass pleaded guilty to first offense DUI charges before Judge Wester. He received 15 months of probation, a $500 fine, and 60 days on an Interlock device Glass must clear in order to drive. Should Glass violate the terms of his probation, including sobriety, he will spend a week in jail.
Glass was contrite, admitting his alcohol addiction and stating that although he has relapsed several times since his DUI arrest in April, he has since begun therapy and attending AA meetings. Glass ended his brief remarks by saying, “I’m just sorry and embarrassed.”
This may not be the end of the trouble for Glass. The Omaha World Herald reported that Glass remains under investigation for any potential role he may have played in the harassment and psychiatric detention of a Fremont man who may have been romantically entangled with Glass’s ex-wife. That same Fremont man will go to trial in October for allegedly assaulting Glass.
Judge Wester clarified with Chief Deputy Douglas County Attorney Brenda Beadle, the special prosecutor appointed to handle the case against Glass, if Monday’s plea applied only to the DUI events of March 23. Both Beadle and Glass’ attorney, Clarence Mock, confirmed that fact.
According to sources, a federal agency is conducting an investigation to whether Glass violated any federal laws. Glass may also face penalties from the Nebraska Bar Association’s discipline committee.
