FREMONT – Here’s a look at local sports today with your man in the stands, Rich Ray:
The Fremont cross country teams ran at the HAC Championships at the Kearney Country Club, yesterday. The Tiger boys were first with 51 points. In girls action, Fremont took first with 35 points.
The Bergan Cross Country teams ran at the McCool Junction Invite, yesterday. In boys action, Bergan was sixth with 64 points. Brenton Pitt was the top Knight, finishing 18th in 20:48.8. In girls action Bergan was led by Sophie O’Neill, who finished fifth in 23:41.7.
The Fremont High football team played at Millard South, last night. With more, here’s Isaac Paden:
The Bergan volleyball team opened pool play in the Centennial Conference Tournament at Kearney Catholic last night. Bergan beat 25-13, 25-19 and lost to Kearney Catholic, 25-27, 25-17, 25-15. Bergan is 17-8 and continues tournament action in Grand Island, tomorrow.
In other high school volleyball, Omaha Gross won over Blair – 3-1.
The Fremont Tiger softball team’s season ended yesterday, at the A-4 District Tournament. The Tigers lost to Bellevue East, 10-0.
At the EMC XCC Championships at Norris, The Blair boys finished fourth with 69 points. In girls action, Blair was second with 45 points.
