Lorna J. Ruff, 85 years, of Fremont, NE, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born on March 24, 1935 in Cedar Bluffs to Alfred and Annetta (Otte) Mahrt.
Lorna graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School in 1952. She married Derold Ruff on November 22, 1961, they later divorced. She had lived in North Bend, Scribner, Lincoln, and Fremont. Lorna was employed as a nurse’s aide for many years at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner, NE and was a “Fraternity Mom” for Sigma Chi in Lincoln for 19 years.
Lorna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, NE.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Yvonne) Ruff of Smithville, MO; daughters, Sharlene (Doug) Newcomer, Leora Johnson both of Fremont, Shari (Corey) Kalisek of Cedar Bluffs, Susie (Scott) Soukup of Lake Villa, IL; sisters, Elaine Montanye of Vancouver, WA, Velma Schafersman of Fremont and Erma Rae (Joe) Miller of Lincoln, NE; sisters-in-law, Tammy Mahrt and Verlaine Mundy; 7 grandchildren, Todd Soukup, Mike (Tammy) Zvacek, Matt Zvacek, Kyle Ruff, Kolby Ruff, Dalton Newcomer, Kelly (Rich) Dezago and 2 great grandchildren, Spencer Zvacek and Courtney Zvacek.
Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arnie Mahrt; granddaughters, Stacie Soukup and Rachel Newcomer.
Funeral will be 10 AM., Friday, September 25, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Dan Heuer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday at Moser’s in Fremont. Visitation will continue on Friday 1 hour prior to the service at church.
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at Cedar Bluffs, NE.
