Fremont Moo Break Losing Streak with 7-3 Win Over Badlands

DICKINSON, ND – Masterful pitching by Brody Sintek and Brett Erwin and opportunistic hitting drove the Fremont Moo to a 7-3 win over the Badlands Big Sticks Tuesday night. The win snapped the Moo’s six-game losing streak and pushed the Moo back into a virtual tie for first in the Clark Division.
Listen to the game recap:

Sintek turned a season-long seven innings pitched, allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out five. At one point, he retired 10 batters in a row, and sat down 11 of the last 12 batters he faced. Erwin came out of the bullpen and threw two shutout innings to close the victory.

For the second straight night, Fremont jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Kanin Dodge led off the game with a walk, then moved to second on a passed ball. He scored on Ronnie McBride’s RBI single to left. Luke White followed with a two-run home run to centerfield to boost the Moo lead to three. Badlands answered in the bottom of the first, as Carson Lundmark homered to left to cut the Fremont lead to 3-1.

The Moo boosted their lead in the top of the fourth. With one out, Nick Emanuel was hit by a pitch. Dillon Sears drew a walk and Dodge singled to right to load the bases. With McBride at the plate, a wild pitch scored Emanuel and advanced Sears to third and Dodge to second. A McBride sacrifice fly to right field scored Sears, and White singled up the middle to drive in Dodge and build the Fremont lead to 6-1. RBI doubles by Wyatt Setian and Gaylan Young cut the Moo lead to 6-3.

The score held there until the top of the seventh. With one out, Taylor Howell doubled to left. Brock Reller drew a walk. Then with two outs, Emanuel was hit by a pitch and Sears drew a bases loaded walk to drive in a run and make it 7-3 Moo.

With the win, the Moo regain a share of first place in the Clark Division, rising into a virtual tie with the idle Hastings Sodbusters for the lead in the division. The win also ensures that the Moo will not have a losing record in a six-game season series against the defending Expedition League champion Big Sticks, with all six games played in Dickinson, N.Dak.
The Moo wrap up their five-game roadtrip and their season opening 20 games in 20 days stretch with a 7:35 first pitch Wednesday night at Badlands. The game can be heard on Big Dog 98.9 FM and 1340 AM and streaming online.
