
Russel Johnson went to be with the Lord and Savior on April 25, 2016, at the age of 96.
He was born on October 26, 1929 to Emil and Bernice Johnson. He married Nadine (Suhr) on July 23, 1950.
Russel sold hogs in 22 states and showed hogs at the Nebraska and Iowa State Fairs. He operated Johnson Spot Farms and had his dream come true having his own hog sale on the farm. He started pork producers and was on the board of the National Spotted Association.
Russel was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include children Doug Johnson, Tom Johnson (friend Shelly), Cyndi Stibor and Pam (Rob) Kreikemeier all of Fremont, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife Nadine, brother Wendel, sisters Doris (Bob) Schroeder and Phyllis (Berdine) Spath.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Scribner Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John’s Ridgeley Lutheran Church southwest of Scribner. Burial will be in the Scribner Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church.
