Michael A. Nicotero, 67, of Scribner died Monday, April 13, 2026 at home.

Michael was born August 22, 1958 in Omaha and raised by his parents Peter and Margaret ‘Reling’ Nicotero. He
was baptized on June 22, 1959 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Omaha. He attended Catholic grade school and
high school before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. After his military service he returned to Omaha.
He served as a bartender in Council Bluffs aka ‘Fat Freddie’. He attended Metro Community College, receiving
degrees in 2001 and 2007, he also attended UNO until they discontinued the dietician program. He then attended
the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for a short time. All of his school was directed towards his passion as a
bartender and a chef. Michael was a very funny guy and enjoyed entertaining his friends and many strangers as
well.

Michael married Kathy Johnson on October 26, 2001 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Scribner. They continued
to live in Scribner. During this time Michael worked as a chef at the Schuyler, Fremont and Ashland Country
Clubs.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Margaret Nicotero.

The visitation will be Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the Hooper Funeral Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. with a wake service at
4. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home in Hooper. Private burial will be held at a later
date at St. Jane Frances Cemetery in Randolph. Memorials are suggested to Catz Angels in Fremont.
