Delores M. Haynes, 91, of Fremont passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Nye Square in Fremont.

Delores was born on October 18, 1934, in Charles City, Iowa, to George and Maxine (Carroll) Gifford. On October 29, 1955, she married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Haynes, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple moved to Fremont in 1957 and later settled in Cedar Bluffs in 1974.

A dedicated worker throughout her life, Delores served as a bookkeeper and secretary for Pete’s Custom Metal and Bronder Chiropractic. She also generously volunteered her time at the local hospital.

Deeply committed to her community, Delores was actively involved with Meals on Wheels, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Cedar Bluffs Senior Center, and was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. In her leisure time, she found joy in crocheting, playing cards, golfing, and spending time with friends and family at social gatherings.

Delores will be remembered as a hard-working, spirited woman with a sweet heart and a touch of ornery charm. Above all, she cherished her family and girlfriends and loved them deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Maxine Gifford; husband, Chuck; parents-in-law, Scott and Ruth Haynes; brother, Jim (Terri) Gifford; nephew, Jamey Gifford; great-nephew, Nathan Sills; and son, Douglas Haynes.
