BELLEVUE, Neb. — Midland University took a short trip to Bellevue, Nebraska, to face No. 4-ranked Bellevue University in a nonconference game Tuesday evening. An early surge by the Bruins forced Midland into a 12-3 loss.

Bellevue opened the game with a two-run home run to take an early 2-0 lead. The Bruins added two more runs before the inning ended to jump ahead 4-0.

Owen Glover put the Warriors on the board in the second inning with a solo home run to left field.

The Bruins responded in the second inning with two consecutive singles followed by a double to bring in another run. Bellevue then hit back-to-back home runs — a three-run shot followed by a solo homer — to extend the lead to 9-1.

Bellevue added two more runs in the third inning after a hit-by-pitch and a single were followed by back-to-back balk calls and a sacrifice fly, making it 11-1.

After a quiet fourth inning, Bellevue added its final run in the fifth with three consecutive singles and a sacrifice fly to make it 12-1.

Jax Sorensen led off the Warriors’ sixth inning with a single. He stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error before scoring on a single by Jimmy Martinez to make it 12-2.

Chase Bouges led off the seventh inning with a double and moved to third on a flyout. Sorensen later doubled to center field to bring Bouges home and cut the deficit to 12-3.

The final two innings were quiet for both teams as Midland fell 12-3.
