
Lowell E. “Tobe” Coburn, 91, of Fremont died Monday, February 2, 2026 at Dunklau Gardens in Fremont.
Lowell was born February 24, 1934 on a farm between Indianola and McCook to John and Valeria Coburn. He attended Red Willow consolidated school and the McCook College. In 1953 Lowell married Twila Schreiber at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook.
In 1954 he was recruited and employed at the Standard Oil Training Center in Grand Island and in 1955 was transferred by Standard Oil to Omaha to open and manage a new training center which in later years became Amoco Oil Co. For the next 37 years with Amoco, Lowell and family lived in Omaha, Spirit Lake, Sioux City, Waterloo, Iowa; Omaha and again finally in Fremont in 1968 as manager, to open a new farm service center operation covering eastern Nebraska. Lowell enjoyed his work with a very great company and had several nice homes for the family. After retirement Lowell and Twila loved to travel to Hawaii and many other parts of the USA and especially their condos at Branson while always enjoying family and friends, boating and great Branson shows and climate.
He was a member of the Fremont Masonic Lodge since 1972, Fremont Shrine Club, Omaha Tangier Shrine Center, Roadsters II and previously Jesters.
Lowell is survived by his wife Twila, son Mike (Karen) of Hooper; Daughters Sherri (Jim) Junginger of Hooper, Julie (Mike) Kempenar, Pam (Brian) Foy both of Fremont; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Opal Coburn, Eva (James) Dunn and Rosalie (Paul) Wittman.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 6 at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont from 4 to 6 p.m. A Masonic Service open to the public will start at 6 p.m. Private burial will take place in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
