Kim Marie Ruzicka, 65, of North Bend passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
She was born November 22, 1960 in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Darrel and Sheila (Coy) Steenblock. Kim’s family moved to Fremont in 1964. She started school at Davenport Elementary in 1966 and graduated from Fremont High School with the class of 1979. After high school, Kim worked at the Fremont City Administrators office and then for the Fremont Utilities.
Kim married Jay Ruzicka on May 2, 1992, in North Bend. After moving to North Bend, she worked for L&L Lumber and OPPD. For the last 18 years, she has been the office manager for Boschult Engineering before retiring in September 2025.
Kim enjoyed gardening, taking care of her plants, music, sewing, cooking, baking and crocheting. She loved summer, being outside tending to her yard any chance she had. She loved baking with her grandkids and found much joy in crocheting blankets and other items for people during the winter months. She loved her girls, Taylor and Cheyenne, her grandchildren and her pets with all of her heart.
Kim is survived by her daughters, Taylor (Kolin) Scheele of Fairbury, and Cheyenne (Brandon) Ellinghausen of West Point; four grandchildren; Chance Ellinghausen, Zoie-Ann Ellinghausen, Remington Ruzicka-Ellinghausen and Kreighton Scheele; ex-husband Jay Ruzicka of North Bend; father, Darrel Steenblock of Fremont; siblings, Brett Steenblock of Fremont and Stacie Steenblock of Lincoln, and nephew, Kyle Steenblock of Fremont.
Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila Steenblock.
A Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Moser’s.
