The Saunders County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two people who died as the result of a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon near Ceresco.
The accident occurred at about 1:07 p.m. on Highway 77 at the County Road A intersection.
The investigation indicates that a 2008 Honda GL1800 trike motorcycle, driven by Daniel Gaunt, 65, of St. Edward and passenger Helen Rosso, 60, also of St Edward were northbound on Highway 77 when a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup driven by Michael Tasler, 73, of Gretna crossed Highway 77 eastbound at County Road A in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with the front passenger side of the pickup.
Both Gaunt and Rosso were declared deceased at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation. Helmets were in use by the motorcyclists and alcohol is not believed to be a factor with either driver.
Ceresco Fire and Rescue, Wahoo Fire and Rescue, Wahoo police, and the Nebraska State Patrol assisted on the scene.
