
Margaret Turner was born on December 7, 1922 in Blair, Nebraska to John and Elsie (Klinck) Aye. She passed away in Fremont on November 11, 2025 after 102 years, 11 months, and 4 days of a life well lived.
Margaret graduated from Blair High School in 1940 where she belonged to the Glee Club, Commercial Club, and was a staff member of the school newspaper (The Informer). She married Robert Turner of Fremont on October 5, 1946, in Marysville, Kansas.
Before being married she worked as a nanny in Blair and Omaha as well as a telephone operator in Blair from 1943 to 1946. Later she worked as a cashier at Kelly’s IGA from 1957 to 1968 in Fremont.
Margaret was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she belonged to two church circles. She also belonged to the 840th Branch of the American Legion Auxiliary and PFC (Pals, Fun, Chatter) Extension and Domino clubs.
Margaret loved to play cards (Pinochle, Pitch, and her favorite Kings on the Corner). She also enjoyed bowling, bird watching, and gardening. She was very sociable, continuing to visit with her friends and family until her final days.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Maxine Turner; grandchildren Robert Turner and Pamela England; great-grandchildren Alexandria (Will Hawks), Edmund England, Meredith England and Benjamin England.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son John and daughter Barbara–also her special companion Wendell Holmes.
Margaret referred to her birthday as Pearl Harbor Day. She saw many things, was many things, and went by many names in her life (Tootie, Nana, and friend are just a few). She was always curious, encouraging, and sharp as a whip. Margaret Turner was one popular lady.
Visitation will be held noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at Moser’s in Fremont.
Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, November 13 at Moser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating.
