Written by Walton Jones, The 1940s Radio Hour is Filled with upbeat tunes, laughter, and a little bit of backstage chaos, and allows the audience to experience the fun and excitement of a live radio broadcast. As everyone scrambles to get the chance to be on air, tensions rise, egos clash, and unexpected hiccups threaten the entire production.

The show, directed and choreographed by Midland’s Director of Theatre, Dan P. Hays, features many songs, sketches and commercials familiar to the Greatest Generation.  Featured songs include “Black Magic,” “I’ll Be Seeing You,” “Ain’t She Sweet,” “Blues in the Night,” and “Strike Up the Band.” There are also Christmas songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” as well as commercials for Pepsi, Sal Hepatica, Nash, and Chiquita Bananas.

“This show is such a joy. It has been on my bucket list of shows to direct for decades,” Hays said. “I’ve got the perfect cast and it is the perfect time to present it. I know our audience is going to love it!”
