FREMONT, Neb. — Midland University wrapped up its 2025 season as it hosted Hastings College for the final game of the year on a cold Wednesday night. An early surge by the Broncos handed the Warriors a tough 7-1 defeat.
The Broncos opened the game with goals in the 2nd and 8th minutes to take an early 2-0 lead. Hastings continued to widen the gap shortly after, scoring three more times in the 14th, 15th and 19th minutes to go up 5-0. Midland’s lone goal came in the 32nd minute when Addison Castellanos converted a penalty kick to put the Warriors on the board, trailing 5-1 at halftime.
After the break, Hastings added two more goals late in the second half, scoring in the 81st and 84th minutes to seal the 7-1 win.
Hastings outshot Midland 20-10, including a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Ava Brandt played the first 45 minutes in goal, making one save, while Julia Sweeneyplayed the second half and recorded four saves.
Midland finishes the season with an overall record of 2-14-1 and a 1-10 mark in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
