YANKTON, S.D. — Midland University traveled to Yankton, South Dakota, on Wednesday night to face Mount Marty University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) matchup. The Lancers shut out the Warriors, 3-0.

Mount Marty struck early, scoring in the 2nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Lancers added another goal in the 43rd minute to enter halftime up 2-0. Mount Marty held a slight edge in shot attempts through the first 45 minutes, 9-8 overall and 6-4 on target.

Following the break, both teams continued to battle, but the Lancers held Midland to just four shot attempts in the second half. Mount Marty sealed the shutout with a final goal in the 75th minute.

Mount Marty finished with 17 shots, including eight on frame, while Midland tallied 12 shots, nine on target.

Ava Brandt played the full 90 minutes in goal for Midland, recording eight saves.

Midland (1-5-1, 0-2 GPAC) returns home to host Morningside University (3-2-1, 0-1 GPAC) for Homecoming on Saturday. The Great Plains Athletic Conference match is scheduled for an 8 p.m. kickoff at Heedum Field in Fremont, Nebraska.
