MADISON, S.D. – Midland University traveled to Madison, South Dakota, on Saturday afternoon to face Dakota State in a nonconference matchup, earning a 1-1 draw on the road.

The Trojans struck first with an early goal in the 11th minute on their only shot of the first half. Midland, meanwhile, tallied 15 shots in the opening period, including eight on goal, but went into halftime trailing 1-0.

After the break, the Warriors continued to control play, firing 13 more shots in search of the equalizer. With time winding down, AnneMarie Oilepo found the back of the net in the 87th minute to level the match at 1-1.

Midland outshot Dakota State 28-4 overall, including a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Ava Brandt played the full 90 minutes for the Warriors.

Midland (0-1-1) returns home for its home opener Wednesday, Sept. 3, with a nonconference match against York University (0-1). Scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start
