SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – No. 22 Midland University was back in action on Saturday afternoon as it traveled to face Dordt University in a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) doubleheader. The Warriors swept the series with 6-3 and 4-3 wins. The opening victory marked the 150th career win for head coach Beth Singleton, now in her fourth season at Midland.
GAME ONE: Midland 6, Dordt 3
The Warriors opened with three straight singles from Reese Floro, Matti Reiling, and Isabelle Pagan. Kamdyn Barrientos followed with a rare two-RBI sacrifice fly to right field. After the catch, a collision between Dordt outfielders allowed both Floro and Reiling to score.
In the fourth, Reiling extended the lead with an RBI single, bringing home Sophie De Rouin. One inning later, De Rouin added an RBI of her own, grounding out to shortstop as Alexis Shepherd scored from third to make it 4-0.
Dordt answered in the bottom of the fourth. A leadoff home run sparked a three-run inning, aided by one hit and one Midland error. The Warriors still held a 4-3 advantage after four innings.
Pagan provided insurance in the fifth with a two-run homer to right field, her blast scoring herself and Barrientos to push the lead to 6-3. From there, both teams were quiet offensively, with Dordt managing just one baserunner the rest of the way.
Campbell Petrick earned the complete-game win, going 7.0 innings while allowing five hits and one earned run. She struck out four.
