WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Coming off an early week trip to Kansas for three games, Midland University was back on the road in West Palm Beach, Florida, to begin a four-game nonconference series against (RV) Keiser University on Thursday. The Warriors suffered a tough 15-1 loss to the unbeaten Seahawks in the opener. Midland is in the midst of seven games in six days, all on the road.

The Seahawks struck first in the bottom of the 1st inning with a double. A sacrifice fly advanced a runner to third, and a hit-by-pitch put runners on the corners and Keiser capitalized on a balk to take an early 1-0 lead.

Nate Reyes led off the top of the 2nd, reaching on a hit-by-pitch. He stole second and then third before coming into score on a throwing error, tying the game at 1-1.

Keiser’s offense erupted in the 5th inning, stringing together five hits to score four runs, including a home run that pushed its lead to 6-1. The Seahawks carried that momentum into the 6th, opening with a leadoff triple, followed by a single, a double, and another home run to extend their advantage to 9-1. They continued to apply pressure, loading the bases with a hit-by-pitch, a single, and a walk. A bases-loaded walk brought in another run before the Seahawks delivered the final blow—a grand slam—giving them a commanding 15-1 lead heading into the 7th.

In the final inning, Keiser shut down Midland to secure the dominant victory.

Midland (2-10) will look to bounce back as it faces Keiser (10-0) in a doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 28. First pitch for game one is set for 10:00 a.m. CST in West Palm Beach.
