The City of Fremont is in the process of repairing a sinkhole on the northbound lane of Broad Street between 19th and 20th streets.
City Administrator Jody Sanders said the sinkhole happened Thursday afternoon. Barricades have been put up to alert motorists.
Northbound truck traffic will be rerouted via 16th Street eastbound, then north on Bell Street, and west on 23rd Street to reconnect with Broad Street.
Since the sinkhole just occurred, Sanders said it is difficult to say how long it will take to repair.
“It could take up to a week, but we don’t know at this time,” she said.
Motorists are to exercise caution when approaching the area.
“Please pack your patience,” she said. “It is unfortunate, but it is being addressed.”
