A Fremont High School senior has been nominated by U.S. Congressman Mike Flood to the nation’s Military Service Academies.

Colson Hazen was one of 13 students nominated from Nebraska’s First Congressional District. He was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and U.S. Naval Academy.

The announcement follows a rigorous interview and selection process, guided by a committee of diverse Nebraskans that included military leaders and community members.

“Many of our nation’s brave service members come from the great state of Nebraska,” Flood said. “I am honored to nominate these outstanding and talented Nebraskans from the First District to the Military Service Academies. I also want to thank the committee for their work, which provided valuable insights into each applicant. Congratulations to the nominees on this prestigious achievement.”
