The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded at 6:47 Thanksgiving night to a personal-injury accident at Highway 77 and Highway 275 bypass north of Fremont.
The initial investigation indicated that a 2019 Peterbilt semi driven by John Myers, 60, of Genoa was attempting to make a left turn from the Highway 275 off-ramp southbound onto Highway 77. A 2011 Kia Sorento driven by Shana Lininger, 22, of Omaha was southbound on Highway 77. The vehicles collided in the intersection. Lininger was deceased at the scene, and a passenger in the Kia was Transported to Methodist Fremont Health in stable condition.
Highway 77 was closed for about four hours. The crash remains under investigation by the DCSO and the Nebraska State Patrol.
DCSO said NSP, the Fremont Fire Department, Fremont Police, Fremont Rural Fire Department and county/state roads officials assisted after the crash.
