SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) has announced its Men’s Soccer Players of the Week for contests played October 21-27, 2024. Midland University’s Hugo Sjoeberg was selected as the GPAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, and fourth time this season. Jordan Bickel of Morningside University earned offensive honors.
Sjoeberg, a sophomore from Kiel, Germany, picked up his seventh shutout of the season this week as Midland defeated Mount Marty 1-0 at home. Sjoeberg had three saves in the game, adding to his conference lead in saves which now sits at 84 to go along with a .778 save percentage.
Midland will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday night at Concordia. The Warriors are on the doorstep of their first-ever regular season GPAC Championship. They’ll clinch at least a share of the title with a win over the Bulldogs. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. in Seward, Neb.
