FREMONT – On Monday, April 13, 2020, Three Rivers Public Health Department (3RPHD) received confirmation of the first COVID-19 related death in Washington County.
The death was that of a man in his 90s with underlying health conditions. His infection was previously reported as a confirmed case in Washington County. This is the 18th death in the state.
In addition, 3RPHD has identified an additional case of COVID-19 in Dodge county. This newest case is a man in his 60s, and he is self-isolating at home. A contact investigation is underway. This is Dodge County’s 11th case, bringing our health jurisdiction’s total to 37 cases.
This newest case has been determined to be community acquired. Both new cases released on Sunday, Dodge county’s 10th and Saunders county’s 6th, were also determined to be community acquired. Contact investigations for these two cases were completed today and all close contacts have been notified.
Community spread of the novel coronavirus is ongoing. Strict social distancing is of the utmost importance.
COVID-19 symptoms include a fever, cough, sore throat, severe fatigue or difficulty breathing. In most cases, a person will have more than one of these symptoms. Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms or develops symptoms should contact their health care provider and tell them how you are feeling and any possible history of exposure. Please call ahead before you go to the doctor’s office or an emergency room.
