Wesley (Wes) L. Wilmer, 78, of Fremont passed away on August 24, 2024, at his home with his wife, the love of his life, Mary (Bernheisel) Wilmer, by his side holding his hand. Wes had been battling cancer. Besides being a loving husband, he was a caring father and proud grandfather.
He was born on August 13, 1946, to John and Edna Wilmer in Denver, Colorado. One of seven children with three brothers and three sisters.
He left Denver in his early 20s to travel running an amusement park ride. He loved being on the road and providing an avenue for others to laugh and have fun. He came to work for Murphy’s Shows in Fremont where he met Mary. They would get married and settle in Fremont having three children.
He would go on to work at Magnus Metal, Gambles, and eventually Hormel Foods where he retired, after 29 years, in 2015.
His retirement was filled with spending time with his family, often attending the events of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary; children, Carol (Rob) Roush of Lincoln, Wes (Michele) Wilmer of Fremont, and Nathan (Heidi) Wilmer of Omaha; grandchildren, Courtney, Peyton, Elena, Kolaya, and Grace; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
There will be no formal services at Wes’ request, only visitation for immediate family. Online condolences may be left at: www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
